Modern Gold Commemoratives

The era of Modern Gold Commemoratives spans the years from 1984 to date. The impetus for the revival of the gold comemmorative program was the 1984 Summer Olympics, held that year in Los Angeles where a $10 gold piece was issued, a first for the denomination. The new $10 gold piece was made to the same weight and alloy specifications as the Indian Head $10 gold piece, last minted in 1933. A new minting facility at West Point, New York produced both Mint State and Proof versions.

Modern gold commemoratives not only celebrate significant events and milestones but also offer a unique investment opportunity. These coins are highly sought after for their historical significance, artistic design, and intrinsic value. Collectors and investors alike appreciate the craftsmanship and limited mintage of these coins, which often leads to their appreciation in value over time. At our San Diego store, we provide a wide selection of these exquisite coins, each with its own story and charm.
